BEIJING, May 19-- Originated from Suzhou, Kunqu opera is often known as an “ancestor of Chinese opera.” Wang Yueli, born in 1985, is a teacher at Suzhou artistic school. In 2004, she graduated from the Kunqu opera class of Jiangsu Drama School. She has since become an actress in Jiangsu Kunqu Opera Theater, and is nowa star on the stage, winning many awards at various opera contests.

In 2011, she decided to go back to Suzhou, her hometown, to teach Kunqu opera in an artistic school, which was her dream. She gained many honors for her hard work and professionalism in the field of Kunqu opera teaching. Meanwhile, the students she taught won awards in most of the Kunqu opera contests. “Compared with performing and being praised on the stage by myself, I feel much happier when watching my students doing so,”she said.
